Product Care

Caring for your Keith Lewis Studio Jewelry

Sterling Silver: Clean occasionally with glass cleaner and a paper towel or soft cloth. This will remove oils and lotions that can lead to tarnish. If the silver tarnishes over time, use a liquid silver cleaner (such as Tarnex, found in grocery stores). After using the glass cleaner, "paint” some Tarnex on the silver with a Q-tip, then wash with dish soap or Windex and rinse in clear water, and then dry. We do not recommend polishing cloths as they don’t work well on textured surfaces.

Oxidized Sterling and “Batik” Patterned Sterling: Clean with glass cleaner and a soft, plain cloth or paper towel. Please avoid using anything abrasive, such as a polishing cloth or silver polish, as this could eventually wear away the oxidation or pattern.

Vermeil (18k gold-plated sterling): Clean with glass cleaner and a soft, plain cloth or paper towel. Please avoid using anything abrasive, such as a polishing cloth, as this could eventually wear away the plating.

Niobium: Clean with glass cleaner and a soft cloth or paper towel. Finger prints can make the colors seem “pastel”; the glass cleaner will revive the brilliant durable colors.

“Raku” heat-colored Copper: No special care or cleaning should be necessary. Use a soft damp cloth if needed.

Amber Mica: Made of the mineral mica, layered with shellac and edged in 23k gold leaf. Please avoid using anything abrasive as this can wear away the gold leaf. Treat gently.

Eco Earrings: Sculpted from a board made of recycled water bottles. Painted with lacquer or fabric paint. No special care should be necessary. Wipe with a damp cloth if needed.
